Because when we look back at things... we tend to only watch at certain aspects. The experience never is "complete" like the present is. Ussually when you look back at things you tend to forget certain aspects, emotions are less intense and we often romanticise certain aspects.
People have been looking back for ages, and a big chunk of people always think that the past was better then then the present. Even tough objective data often refutes this 馃
