Have you ever wrongly assumed someone didn't speak your language? What happened?

No I haven't, but several times people have assumed I was not American because of my looks

@Hdryder555 What do they think you are?
Hdryder555 · 61-69, M
@ChloeLuv not sure didn't ask.
One lady once asked, "excuse me what country are you from?"
In my best middle eastern accent I responded,
"My land is a most beautiful place, my people call it our own piece of heaven" "y'all call it Texas"

Not me but having worked at a university I’ve heard of men who spoke their language thinking they were having a private conversation about the woman who was also on an elevator and when the elevator stopped at the floor to let the woman off they were talking about she said “Have a nice day” in their language.....both men red-faced.

Lol. In Denmark on holiday we were driving across and I needed fuel. I assumed the girl serving would only speak Danish. So prepared with my phrase book I go in. I get the first sentence out poorly. She giggles and talks to me in perfect English!

Not exactly. Yet I had wrongly assumed someone was speaking other languages that are similar to one I somewhat spoke. German and Danish have similarities.

No, but I once wrongly assumed someone was pregnant. That didn't go to well. Won't make that mistake again

@Wurkoutgurl Yikes!

No, I never did since the U.S is a melting pot for all races, ethnicities, and nationalities.

Probably many times on a bus. I don't know because I didn't hear them speak.
