Not arguing, but does it matter?
I'm interested. I understand that people aren't as educated as some of us think they should be, but does it really matter?

@SW-User Yes, it does, particularly when they answer a question related to countries.

@SW-User Not if you're content to go through life not knowing things and just be content to stare at your phone all day. Just don't imagine you'll be taken seriously that's all.

@SW-User You make a really good point. But I'd say it actually does matter. Not just because some people are ignorant to certain (basic) information but that they lack the intellectual curiosity to learn. I think that mindset extends to a lot of areas of life and, ultimately, leads to either poor choices or believing false premises. That impacts society as a whole.

@Ynotisay Yeah, It would appear to be a mindset.
Again, to all, I'm just asking questions to spark discussion. No hard feelings anywhere. :) Hope you guys are having a good day.

@SW-User I doubt anyone not wanting to know a little basic geography is unlikely to be curious about any given topic. Including contraception, health, nutrition, learning skills to get a good job where they will be in a position to pay taxes....You get my drift?

@HerKing I have a few good friends who get continents and nations confused on the regular but they are very highly succesful people in my opinion; even people I look up to.
They're not very politically involved, no, not social warriors to bring about change at a global scale, but they are some of the best people I know. They planned their families, they eat well, they have better jobs than I will probably ever have, and they pay their taxes. They don't have multimillion dollar homes, no, but they have good homes for their families.
I suppose my argument would be that fluency in a particular field of basic education would not be a valid judge of character or intelligence.
