Are visible tan lines a good or bad thing?

During swim season, id go from my ivory skin ton to a bronzed caramel.

I had white ass lines that ran across my upper back, and a tan circle in the middle of my lower back BC of my speedo.

I always thought they looked cool. I looked like a swimmer, and I thought that was pretty cool.

I kind of like them

Back in my university days a girlfriend asked me what I thought of her tan. I told her I liked the white parts. I don't like tan lines now particularly when they show under clothing.

Not on the face.
