Why do womens pants have zippers?

but wouldn't that be solved with a adjustable waistband?

@oodlesofnoodles It’s solved by a [b]zipper[/b]. Same way some skirts and dresses have zippers. It’s a quick way of getting in and out of fitted garments.

that's how you break things. they would either be too loose to fit right or too tight to get on
