I view the brain sort of like this.
Brains don't store memory or other information like a computer or a camera does. Rather, what gets stored are the associations we have around an event, all the sensations that came into play for you at the time the memory was formed, in addition to whatever else was in your consciousness at that time — basically, just the information required for the brain to recreate a memory. And it's cyclical, so that every time you "view" a "memory," the instructions are overwritten with how you remembered it this last time.
Your memories are actually your memories of remembering your memories, or something like that.
Our brains are just big swamps of sense association that overlap and cross-contaminate each other, ultimately creating stronger and stronger neural pathways that may or may not have any actual resemblance to "objective reality," whatever that is.
So, yeah. Junk drawer of the soul.

@DunningKruger Interesting 🤔 Overlap and cross contamination. Fits, most certainly.

Ha! I think that's a great analogy.

It's important to make time to think and watch those thoughts. So much undealt with stuff floating about and if we keep running, it keeps chasing us.
Freeranger · M
to the contrary....I'd prefer to think of it as a storeroom for current and vintage miscellanea-----which, makes it seem more palatable and a bit more justifiable. Hah.

@Freeranger Way in the corner of my draw lies a treasure chest ❤️

Here you are! Good morning my friend. I have Primary Progress MS which is the worst one. The worst part is my brain is atrophying at an alarming rate. I'm actually working with a counselor to "get a handle" on my thought pattern and thinking habits. Your analogy to "junk drawer" is quite accurate. Trying to change my thinking, at this stage of life is near impossible
Trippy · F
@robbie2499 I see... May I wish you all the best in your progress ❤️
robbie2499 · 61-69, F
@Trippy Of course you may! I very much appreciate it :)

true sometimes there are things you'd just like to forget.
Trippy · F
@SW-User The past certainly accumulates with what it leaves behind ❤️

@Trippy yeah i'm glad i can keep the good things though. i don't know if you would be anything if you couldn't keep any memories at all.
Trippy · F
@SW-User Those that shine are useful indeed. Others simply use you.❤️
