Ok. The real did you know: In Sweden blood donors receive a text when their blood is used to save someones life.

Acknowledgment:

Donors receive a "thank you" text after donating.

Follow-up:
Donors receive a text when their blood is used to help someone.

Nudging:
Donors can opt-in to receive texts to encourage them to donate again.
The text message program was launched to: Combat low donation rates, Help donors understand the impact of their donations, Encourage donors to donate again, and Generate buzz on social media.
The program has been successful, generating a lot of visibility on social media and traditional media. It's also helped people talk about blood donation with their friends.

we do that in the uk too :)
@Matt85 that's really cool
Very cool, I so admire the cleverness involved. Find myself wondering if the families of deceased organ donors would appreciate knowing when their loved one’s organs have been used to save a life. Though of course it’s never an experience they’d want to repeat, perhaps it could bring some comfort. And facilitate discussion causing more people to choose organ donation.
@Bexsy Oh wow, that’s amazing. Hope your sister is doing well. 🙂
@ineedadrink Incredibly powerful and so very touching!
@OlderSometimesWiser she had a long couple years recovery but she is doing well now. I'm so thankful to that family, my two sisters is really all the extended family I have, besides my kids

I wonder if sperm donors get one too.

Ya know…just to let them know it went to a good cause instead of a kleenex or sock. 😜
@LunarOrbit I was thinking the same thing.

I would so love to know about that. I donate regularly.
@ineedadrink i do also. It would be an uplifting thing. I think it's a wonderful idea.
That seems pretty cool to know when you have helped.

Also studies have suggested that 80% of people don't change from the default option, weather the person is willing to donate body part should something happen to them.

Which is why there should make some sort of law saying the default option should be to opt in to helping people.

Where if someone can easily change it if they wanted to.

Before I had my mitral valve replaced last year, I donated every month. Now that I have to take blood thinners for the rest of my life, I'm unable to. I will miss it, I thought I was making a difference. This is a great program that they have in Sweden.
Sounds cool until you find out the person was drunk driving and killed 5 people, but she were saved 😯
