The text message program was launched to: Combat low donation rates, Help donors understand the impact of their donations, Encourage donors to donate again, and Generate buzz on social media.
The program has been successful, generating a lot of visibility on social media and traditional media. It's also helped people talk about blood donation with their friends.

Very cool, I so admire the cleverness involved. Find myself wondering if the families of deceased organ donors would appreciate knowing when their loved one’s organs have been used to save a life. Though of course it’s never an experience they’d want to repeat, perhaps it could bring some comfort. And facilitate discussion causing more people to choose organ donation.
@OlderSometimesWiser my sister received a liver. She said the family was notified but her identity was confidential.

@OlderSometimesWiser I know a family who got to listen to their deceased son's heart beating in the recipient's chest. Very powerful for them.
@Bexsy Oh wow, that’s amazing. Hope your sister is doing well. 🙂
