@Stereoguy unpopular opinion this is a good thing. This means that now we won’t have so many foreign doctors and we will have more American doctors

@DeluxedEdition I wouldn't want a doctor who hated me for the color of my skin, or who would tell me that if I wanted hypoallergenic band aids It was "white privilege".
I want a doctor who is so smart that they didn't HAVE to lower the bar so he or she could pass their medical exams...and many of the smartest are from foreign countries.
Foreigners actually have to BE smarter and try harder just to get a job in this country...not be stupider and can't even pass their exams. That being said, the accents are hard to deal with at times. You have to have a good ear.

@Stereoguy doctors go through 4 years of schooling and then 4 years of residency where they work overtime hours but do not get paid or they get paid little to nothing
It’s a lot of stress and a lot of people don’t even finish. What’s the point? If you become a neurosurgeon you’ll only be able to work 10 years before you retire. Doctors can’t even go to school unless they live with their parents until they graduate. I don’t know a single person in residency that doesn’t live with their parents
They seriously need to work on the curriculum or we’re going to continue having a serious shortage of doctors in this country which we fill by using foreigners. I’ve never seen an American doctor since I moved to Florida. They’re all Indian or middle eastern
And it’s a job like any other job you have a care team and people following you up to prevent mistakes which are made all the time because people are only human.
And I never said pass doctors who can’t pass the medical exam.

You say that because you’re not even familiar with the system that they use now that clearly isn’t working which is why we have such a serious shortage of doctors in this country. If you become a neurosurgeon you can only work 10 years until you retire. Every doctor I know became a doctor because their parents were a doctor and they had to live with thher parents the entire time they went to school because you cannot work and go to medical school, you physically cannot.
You do four years of bookwork and tests and then four years of residency which is basically where you work but you get paid little to nothing working overtime hours
It’s easy to sit there and say “I want my doctor to be educated enough to pass like everyone else”
When you don’t know or understand the problems we face in the field because of the ineffective schooling curriculum that doctors have in this country, you have to be a privileged filthy rich kid to be a doctor in this country or a foreigner

@DeluxedEdition not to mention what if they decide that they don’t wanna do that (Which happens frequently) I’ve had two friends originally going to be a doctor and both decided they wanted to be nurses instead.
or they fail and then they’ve just wasted eight years of their life and have no work experience to be able to go somewhere else at the age of 30. not to mention the school loans they have accumulated and have to start paying off

@DeluxedEdition Didn't mean to upset you. I am aware that it is 8 years of study. For a while there, Harvard was paying the tuition of anyone who graduated as a doctor of medicine. Don't know if they are still doing it.
My mother ended up housing my son and his first bride, who was studying to be a nurse at Emerson, and then became a physicians assistant, and my mother co-signed the loan application.
We ALL got shafted on that. My son's first wife left him and defaulted on the loan, so my poor senile mother ended up legally responsible, and I paid the bills because I was her executrix. And ALL of that money, $1000.00 a month, came out of her estate, so my brother and I also got the shaft after my mother died.
