What’s been happening….

I got my master’s in TESL (teaching English as a second language) this past May. I completed it in 4 semesters and met some great classmates. The age range for this masters program is pretty varied, 24 to over 60 years old. I kind of felt like the mother hen since I’m the one that’s taught the longest (since 1998), so my classmates would come to me to get my opinion on lesson plans and assignments. I was also very forthcoming with advice which led to some of my classmates getting jobs at community colleges while they are still completing their master’s.

It’s been a long time coming. I got a 4.0 GPA, so I had 2 ceremonies - an honors convocation and my graduation ceremony.

I feel accomplished and credit a lot of my colleagues for encouraging me to pursue my master’s. My learning journey is still continuing because I am currently taking an asynchronous course while teaching 5 classes this summer. My last class ends this Wednesday, and then I will be heading off to Canada for two weeks before the fall semester starts.

I have more greys, but I refuse to dye my hair. I’ve accepted getting older even though mentally I feel like I’m 17 when I’m with my best friends in Toronto.

As for my love life/dating life, meh….could be better, but my priorities have changed.

@marsbar Oh ya! I fact my boss just asked me to update an analysis I did because she liked it and I can't even remember doing it. I'll use the excuse, I do a lot and can't remember :P

Gibbon · 70-79, M
Teaching English? As that being my one and only language I have some questions and even more serious complaints about spelling and pronunciation. this is a real mess for real
marsbar · F
@Gibbon I teach English to adults who have other languages as their native language.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@marsbar oh man given all the contradictions in spelling and pronunciation I bet they can be even more confused. Seriously English drafted words and spelling from so many origins it's a wonder I like many others learned it growing up and understood the meaning of the all the words said differently yet spelled alike and the other words spelled similar that are said nothing alike. I don't speak any other language but I know they have rules and constraints that make more sense then English
Ynotisay · M
Right on. Congrats. Such an important thing.

And good call on keeping the grey. Has nothing to do with a youthful outlook. Only adds to it.
marsbar · F
@Ynotisay Thank you. I’m low maintenance, so I can’t be bothered. Lol
