Did you go to university? Do you use your degree in your career?

No.. I went to the hardknocks school of life and left with a masters in stupidity 馃槒馃ぃ馃ぃ
romper6951-55, M
@LadyJ I thought it was a Doctorate 馃槣

Yes.. But one degree was particularly useful outside. A Bachelors in Management taught me that everything was a business, including your career itself. And the personnel issues, communication skills, accounting and legal aspects needed to be thought through, planned for and kept organised. Passing those skills onto my kids has served them very well. I wish I had known earlier myself.馃樂
Whatever. You shouldn't listen to what people say about others. Not only does it not concern you but you wouldn't know the facts. You would just know what you were being told. And even if they have proof, that's kind of malicious, don't you think?@whowasthatmaskedman
And you still wouldn't know the whole story. @whowasthatmaskedman

@Spoiledbrat I totally agree. Who am I to judge?馃樂

Got my masters in engineering and I'm still an engineer at a disk drive company now doing R&D and have a little medical device company on the side that helps a lot of guys that have had prostate cancer.

Tastyfrzz61-69, M
If you don't like it, return it.
I did an IT degree when it was new, most of what i learned wasn't particularly relevant in my career as technology changed so fast. The most useful was systems analysis which has also helped me in planning projecta in my personal life.
Yes! No. I had to back out of going to Med school because my mom fell seriously ill and I was not about to leave her. So I stayed at my university which was close to home and went down a different path.

I will be going to university before I turn 16 because my teachers said I'm smart enough. I hope I will use my degree because I want to be a scientist.
Lugubri056-60, M
Yes, and I've always used it in my career. It was so long ago now though, what I actually learned is probably of little use.
Nanori26-30, F
Yeah, no I've had many jobs not one related to my degree
NO - Full of left wing feminist teachers, that hated males in Welfare
Yes, a degree in psychology u can use every single day!

No, I never use it.

OldBrit56-60, M
No and therefore no

I did do a diploma sponsored by my first employer after school and that was the basis of my career for the next 30+ years
I got the lightweight "computer guy" degree back in 1997 called "Management Information Systems."

Yes.. you could say I "used it."
Mikeawesome198636-40, M
Yes. I got my degree with honours, and I've used it in my career ever since.
Yes and no. I went to college to become an English / Biology / Phys Ed Teacher. Never taught but worked for a major pipeline for 18 years then started my own consulting business using the certifications and education while working for them. My wife got her degree in engineering and also worked for the same pipeline. She became a college instructor and also received her MBA and a Doctorate.
Yes, and no. I majored in art.
Manfredthemanic13-15, M
@4meAndyou My brother is studying art!
@Manfredthemanic Unless he is majoring in graphic design he will probably not be able to earn a living doing it. The competition is intense.
Manfredthemanic13-15, M
@4meAndyou No, my brother is a painter. He is already selling some of his paintings. 馃槉
I got a useless Psychology degree in 1977 and ate out of garbage cans and slept on the street for my graduation present, all that lasted maybe 2 years

Decades later I live on less than a thou a month and no family, love, no life history and I am now close to checking out.

TEACH yourselves, they want ONLY your money. But I can discuss ALL the issues.
Yes but I didn't graduate. I went 4 years though.
I did, and no I do not.
dancingtongue80-89, M
Yes, and I used both the skills in the field of my degree and my overall university education in my career. Although I wound up working in a different industry/field than my degree was designed and intended for.
Dlrannie31-35, F
Yes and no 馃檪
Yes, though I knew going into university that my bachelors was only a stepping stone toward my masters, which is required for the field.
Abstraction61-69, M
Yes. Used it all the time. It shaped my thinking, practice and continued to pay dividends for years - in career and just ability to process ideas, see things.
Three times. My BA was in English so, useful in the sense of business communications. Then I got an MBA and an MS in Econ. which were very useful in my work.
DeWayfarer61-69, M
