They should have it as an option. Right?

Ian123 · 61-69, M
@SimplyTracie Hmmm, Im not convinced its ok 😃 Will you come and get me out of prison 👮🏻‍♀️👮🏻‍♂️ 🥦🌽🥕🥔
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F

I remember the youth camp I attended as a preteen always had gardens to maintain. We grew veggies and herbs to use in the kitchen and the campus had lots of citrus trees and orchids too. Those were lessons that I always carried with me. It's why I still love growing my own food at home. Not only should kids be learning to garden, community gardens need to become more common.♡
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@SW-User I totally agree. So many vacant lots in the city that can be better utilized.
Why? They teach farmers to do that. They call it division of labor.
@SimplyTracie Is Tracie not a caring and loving person? I know she is.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@quitwhendone Not enough. It takes a lot more than I have.
@SimplyTracie Ok, I'll take your word for it.
Mona86 · C
All that green is no good for them
SW-User
@Mona86 😂😂😂
SW-User
@Mona86 Oh okay, so vegetables are not fattening then? Glad that we've cleared that up 😁.
Mona86 · C
Yes it is vegetables are fattening @SW-User
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
Oh btw, October is National Farm to School Month.

TanMiaoMiao · 31-35, F
😺I would love to live inside a food garden@SimplyTracie
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TanMiaoMiao Cats eat veggies?

Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
We've had a garden all my life. We plant starting in mid March and harvest last of it early November. We live in a place with a long growing season
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Mountainlady16 What do you plant?
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@SimplyTracie all sorts of stuff from potatoes and corn to gourds and pumpkin. And yes horticulture is a required class at the private school my church runs
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Mountainlady16 I’m glad that your church promotes that. 😊
I think more schools should.
Ian123 · 61-69, M
Sounds like a good idea 🤗
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Ian123 J think so too
SW-User
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@SW-User I agree.
I don't want someone forcing a political agreda on my kids!
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@canusernamebemyusername Ahhh night classes huh? College credit night classes are available here too. Vroom!
@SimplyTracie College and high school level here.
Ian123 · 61-69, M

Oneofthestormboys · 56-60, M
Yes - it’s fun and teaches a really important lesson about sustainability and to understand that things need to be nurtured if you want the result to be a good one.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Oneofthestormboys I agree. It might teach them responsibility too.
JoeyFoxx · 56-60, M
Yes. We don’t teach people how things actually work in school.
JoeyFoxx · 56-60, M
@SimplyTracie Why would anyone assume that she's competent enough to understand?

Anyone with a brain in T-bag's White House ends up losing their jobs. The fact that she still has her job is an indictment on her intelligence.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@JoeyFoxx She’s involved with something other than DOE stuff. I forget what she’s doing these days.
Valerian · 100+, M
@SimplyTracie Because it's not easy for the dumbassed teachers remember the stuff they never understood themselves and don't feel like teaching because it's hard!
Oster1 · M
Yes and other things pertaining to natural survival :)
Oster1 · M
@SimplyTracie Just look how farm kids grew up:)
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Oster1 Things have changed a lot. Pocket knives aren’t allowed on campus as far as I know. I think it's great to encourage scouting. I don’t know if all that should be on K-5 curriculum.
Oster1 · M
I totally agree:)@SimplyTracie
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@dinonuggies Awww 😪 Did you get to eat a guava from the tree?
dinonuggies · 100+, M
@SimplyTracie nu but my cousin grew a second one & it’s still there ❤️🍃. Everyone in my family plants. Carrots, veggies + more. I stopped. But it’s fun. Idk what I meant earlier is, kids should learn how the world works from a young age so we’re prepared
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@dinonuggies That’s true plus I think it’s good for the children to go outside and learn different things. Especially if the children is growing up in the city.
Yes 100%, if just to avoid kids thinking food comes from Tesco's
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TopCat I never heard of it.
@SimplyTracie it probably owns a different brand in the US, like Walmart owns ASDA in the UK

Yes.

Also basic finance, basic car maintenance, and basic HOUSE CLEANING.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@DearAmbellina2113 I’m not so sure about car maintenance but housekeeping yes.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
@SimplyTracie most people drive at some point in their lives, so I think basic car maintenance would be a great class.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@DearAmbellina2113 Yeah okay. That would be a good option.
Sure my mom taught me how to plant things When I was a kid
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@MarmeeMarch Awesome 😊
Did you grow up on a farm?
@SimplyTracieNo But my mother grew up On a ranch
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@MarmeeMarch That’s even more awesome
Elessar · 26-30, M
I did. We were thought how to take care of a garden, more generally. It was fun, and I remember that stuff way better than most stuff I had to learn from paper.
SW-User
Yeah, but by someone that knows what they're doing and will sustain it

There are no offspring.
Peaches · F
YES! 🍀I've also just found out in Britain they now have mental health classes for kids and they are loving it!🥰 Why aren't we doing that in the USA?🤔
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
I agree Aunty Peaches. Well, at least make children aware. Heck, make adults aware.
TanMiaoMiao · 31-35, F
😺i miss those kind of subject hehe, it’s really productive and great for life
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F

76starships · 46-50, M
Yes, absolutely. Kids need to know how life works.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@76starships Start a project in your community that promotes it. Okay?
76starships · 46-50, M
I do it with my own kids. We plant something every spring. Tomatoes, peppers, something they can see turn into food. It’s a great idea. @SimplyTracie
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@76starships That’s awesome. I wish I took an interest in growing veggies when I was a kid.
Yessss. That would be awesome.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Dewms I agree. I’d definitely plant an eggplant.
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F

Lonelyandyb · 36-40, M

Well, it's like their 1st lesson in plant biology!

Seed + Dirt + Water = Big Pain in Ass for Teacher and maybe a Salad for Lunch if the Nattering School Board and Fretful Children's Parents approve of the Risking It!
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Valerian
+ sunlight ☀️
Of course the school board would be against anything that’s worthwhile.
Valerian · 100+, M
@SimplyTracie 🤦‍♂️ SUNLIGHT!!! 😕

That's why the plants all died I bet! 🤬 Dammit!!! 😤
DisturbOne · 41-45, M
their too fucking lazy now a days
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@DisturbOne Maybe but do you think it should be taught?
DisturbOne · 41-45, M
@SimplyTracie can you teach another person kid something with out having its parents contradicting you . ?
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@DisturbOne I guess I could.
