Is Linguistics a career worth pursuing?

My personal opinon would be to avoid unless you have a passion for languages. You could potentially earn more as a translator in a single language.

I have four college degrees with honors and no debt and a good credit rating. Most of my college degrees were gotten on grant money and scholarships plus work/study and other part time jobs. I also got a few loans here and there as an absolute last resort and have managed tp pay them off. You can get your degree if you want it. The longer you've been at it, the easier it is to get college money. You can go all the way to the doctoral level with no debt or minimum debt if you are determined.

@1angrytitan: being a linguist means you study different languages in a scholarly manner. You learn and teach about different language structures, grammars and language development and evolution.You do not necessarily have to be fluent in many; two or three is usually enough.
