Good question sir. It used to be that the opinions of the opposition (whatever that was at any given time) were listened to and given respect) were considered and when a decision was made it was supported by the opposition. At some point it stopped working that way. Citizens of the US have become tribal and the opposition is now to be derided and run over as though by a truck. Americans don’t respect Americans. Sometimes I think the only reason there is no civil war is geography. Is it past the point where we can put it all back together?

The government is to big, to self serving and makes to many false promises for votes.
I think its 1 out of 16 people that work, work directly for the govt. Of the 150 million that work thats nearly 10 million that have a better quality of life then the rest of us, that are just trying to keep up.

@checkoutanytime Move to south Italy, see by yourself how well a little government (or no government) society will benefit you. Just beware of the local entrepreneurs, they sometimes tend to shoot at each other in the streets and you don't really want to find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time

@Elessar we dont need a federal government this large, most of our governing needs are handled by the states. The federal comes up with ways to tax the public, for its own growth.

We vote by cult of personality or party now, here.
It doesn't matter what is wrong or right in your eyes what matters is which political party you are associated with.
So, it's very easy to condemn one political parties candidate for one thing, but still ignoring the same corrupt behavior by your own parties candidate.
Conviction no longer carries much weight.

too much money in politics--special interest groups have more power than individuals, because they have so much money to contribute to campaigns..if elected, most become rich, at least nationally
