I hate when people blame trauma for their crimes…

Don’t get me wrong, I fully understand the impact childhood trauma can have on you. I have permanent brain damage because the level of trauma I suffered at the time I did prevented part of my brain developing properly. My mental health has suffered ever since and I’ve done a lot of things I’m not proud of.

Watching true crime documentaries and whenever there is a serial killer, rapist or pedophile there are always people trying to justify their actions because they suffered trauma when they were young.

It makes me so angry and feel physically sick. You can be as traumatised and damaged as anything and you still wouldn’t go out raping and killing, those people are born evil. I hate that people give them excuses for what they do.

I agree I think it's too easy for them to attempt to justify committing their crimes on something that was out of their control, clearly we contradict that and it ultimately shows that autonomy is drives them to do it. Of course there are those that don't have particularly bad childhoods/experienced any trauma at all and still go on to commit heinous crimes - I find them somewhat more evil.
