Will AI find the cure for cancer?

GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
I think there already is a cure but canver therapy makes too much money to be fully cured.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
That would be amazing
Lilymoon · F
That would be incredible

1. don't confuse algorithmic computation/organization with hollywood AI

2. governments & pharmaceutical companies aren't interested in actual cures (no profit in it), they only care about receiving grants/funding so they can claim they're working on cures...

For decades we've been listening to them trying to solicit "donations" & telling us they're so close to a cure for aids/hiv, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc. and they're no closer now than they were then...

They do have a bunch of new expensive drugs that cause even more problems though...

Supposedly there is an MRNA vaccine thats going to be rolled out this year, for all cancers..its a start
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
@bookerdana ah, I vaguely recall hearing something about that. Wonder how much it'll be?
bookerdana · M
@Notsimilarreally One of lifes imponderables. One part of me is hoping that the Government will step in to insure it is available for all, because of its obvious benefits.

The other part is more cynical
One hopes for the first🤷‍♂️

That's a possibility. I am curious as to what is being done with AI right now.
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
@Nitedoc alot it seems. It discovered that not all fingerprints are original
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@Notsimilarreally Big business want's to know what people they can replace with AI. Employees are much more expensive than renting a little AI space.
butterflybaby75 · 46-50, F
No because AI is funded by big business and NOT finding a 'cure' for cancer is propping up Big Pharma 'investment'. Remember it's not like Covid where there was a politically-motivated will to create a pandemic then create 'vaccines',

The cure for 'cancer' is to totally change the way we live as cancer is, in my view, primarily caused by our built environment and how we live in suburban enclaves that are not sustainable.

No money in cures

I am remember when prescription drugs were not advertised like everything else

Orgasm Inc.: Extraordinary behind-the-scenes access reveals a drug company's fevered race to develop the first FDA-approved Viagra for women - and offers a humorous but sobering look inside the cash-fueled pharmaceutical industry.

I hope domeone will one day
Degbeme · 70-79, M
I hope that happens.
Musicman · 61-69, M
It won't matter. Big pharma will shelve it. The money is in treating it not curing it.
BearDownChicago · 41-45, M
Fingers crossed. I’m scared if AI but if it can do that i would be eternally grateful
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
It will help. Just like other statistical and search tools help.
scorpio611 · 41-45, M
Watch - Better Than Us - Netflix. You will get your answer
Theandyb · 36-40, M
Only if the drug companies/biotech/ big pharma can control it
SlaveEt · 36-40, F
No but hopefully one day we humans may.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
If they cure it all the research money will be gone
MrsMONAKanful · 36-40, F
Hopefully but then what are all the drama and scientists going too do
SW-User
Or at least look like one
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
I hope it can find the cure for the 6 finger people it draws.
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
Probably, but then will they release it?
The cure exists, but big pharma and healthcare is keeping it suppressed and illegal.
