They Put Me In A Private Room At The Chemo Center, With A Comfy Bed, A Beside Table, A TV And Other Things…

Thinking it was due to having a hypothermia spell two weeks ago that lasted over an hour before we got it to stop. I drank some very water then, and the nurse brought me 3 warmed blankets in addition to the one I already had on me. I believe the fan vent above me blowing over me may have contributed to the hypothermia. I was shaking so hard I eventually had labored breathing. I also am very anemic, right over the point where I could get a transfusion. I brought an electric fleece throw with me and put it over the bed in the private room yesterday, had no cool air blowing over me, drank hot tea, the boy went down to the little restaurant got us both tomato-basil soup and potato wedges to eat and that likely helped too.

I had told my nurse at the visit on Wednesday about the hypothermia and I suspect she put in an order for a private room for me.

Good soup choice one of my favorites. Hope you are doing well with the treatments

@cherokeepatti not much for extra effort but I have to admit the first time I made it my mind said this is literally screaming for a grilled cheese sandwich pairing. More so then regular tomato soup.

@Gibbon Yes the boy said it would be good with a grilled cheese sandwich the first time I made it. Have to cut it in to 4 pieces so more corners to dip it in.

@cherokeepatti I live off Amazon so no bread butter or cheese in the house. Delivery from my local grocery store has gone to the dogs and not worth the trouble anymore. They've changed service providers 3 times and they all mess up.

The nurses seem to be taking good care of you. I hope that you're doing well and will continue to do so.

@Sapio Doing OK today and about to start dinner.

You deserve this luxury treatment every single time you go for chemo! Thankfully NOW they are taking really, really good care of you!

@4meAndyou I think they had to train some new graduates last time. Saw a lot of new faces and the nurses were talking to them. Likely the reason that they called me so late for my appointment. I had woke up at 5:30 a.m. to get my shower, get ready and get my lunch and suitcase packed with all my things in it. Then an hour to drive up there and park, go to chemo lab, go to the medical appointment and come back and wait for what we thought would be 30 minutes, and it ended up being about 2 more hours. That probably was one factor in it. Too much sitting around before the treatment. My nurse was good to listen to me at my appointment too. Told her about getting those hot sweats several times after I had that hypothermia episode. Don’t know what’s going on with that and she said she would check into it. I thought I might have been detoxing after the incident. Would wake up with the sweat pouring off my face. Happened again last night though and 3 times. Had to change my sleep clothes once because of it. I might be detoxing all of the chemo out of my body, who knows. I had more energy that next day than I ever have. And not too bad this time.

@cherokeepatti I am sooo glad to see your energy returning...at least a little bit!

It's good to hear the nurses are being attentive and caring, and it's also good that you're doing your own research and working with them. You're in my prayers.

@cherokeepatti You're a good patient. I'm still learning when to complain and when not to when my Mom is in the hospital.
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@AbbeyRhode You really need to speak up when she is hospitalized. They are usually not quick to respond to requests and have to be asked at least twice.
AbbeyRhode · F
@cherokeepatti If it's something I can do, I just do it myself, otherwise I will keep after them, and if she's in pain, I will yell.
idontcareok · 70-79, M
hope you are okay
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@idontcareok I feel OK today, went home yesterday and laid down in my lift chair and went to sleep.
Musicman · 61-69, M
That was very nice of her. You are in my prayers daily 🙏 I am sorry you are having to endure this. 😢
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@Musicman thank you. I believe that one of my supplements was interfering with blood clotting and I looked it up on online. The articles said that it could interfere with platelet formation and development of blood clots. Hopefully this is will help in addition to the iron supplement that I have been taking. It looks like it is helping a lot. My hemoglobin level has been 7.4 this past month, needed it to be 6.9 before they would give me a 2-pint transfusion. It will take time to get my levels up but I think it can be done. And will help my energy level quite a bit too.
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@Musicman I told the boy that I could get spoilt to those private rooms, no noises or distraction, it was comfy and that nurse was coming in often to check on me and take care of the chemo stuff, always asking if she could get me something before she left. I had someone with me most of the time too, not taking chances.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti Definitely wishing you all the best 🙏
