Can you be diagnosed by a doctor that you had an actual stroke

Without any tests?

Someone I know told me he had a stroke and told the doctor his symptoms and the doctor confirmed he’d had a stroke but did not have any tests ordered. I said I’m pretty sure you’d need to have some kind of test for this to be confirmed and he said no just the doctor could tell without sending him for tests.

I feel like hes lying and looking for attention

Try and Google this question. You might get better results. In the past few months, I have had a ct done on my brain, an ultrasound, and an MRI. After the ct, my doctor told me I had had one definite mini stroke, possibly two. That's why the US and mri were ordered. Final result : doctor said that I had had a large stroke. Now I don't know if that means "major" or not.

@powernap I hope you don't put your health care needs in the hands of Dr. Google. As a clinician, I regularly saw patients who came to me to treat the diagnosis Dr. Google gave them. I did treat most of them, but can't remember a single one that actually had the illness suggested.

@samueltyler2 no I did not. I simply offered this as a suggestion to maybe get an idea. If you want to get technical, then I would suggest a PDR.

@powernap do you even know what a PDR even is?

@samueltyler2 in my comment, I wasn't challenging you. I respect your position as a physician, and I certainly did not expect that individual to take Google as the final word. I guess I need to be a little more careful with my responses.

@powernap that would be wise. I always advice people to seek professional care. I do not suggest going around them, unless there appears to be negligent activity. I try to educate people as to the actual facts.

@samueltyler2 my mistake. I thought it was like a catalog of illnesses and their symptoms. Please forgive me.

@samueltyler2 thank you so much for setting me straight. I learned my lesson.

@powernap I hope I didn't offend you. If I did I apologize.

@samueltyler2 no offense taken. It's all fine over here. Thank you, again.
