Can you be diagnosed by a doctor that you had an actual stroke

Without any tests?

Someone I know told me he had a stroke and told the doctor his symptoms and the doctor confirmed he’d had a stroke but did not have any tests ordered. I said I’m pretty sure you’d need to have some kind of test for this to be confirmed and he said no just the doctor could tell without sending him for tests.

I feel like hes lying and looking for attention

She mentioned it is so obvious that no diagnostic t st need to be done. In the other hand, to day, in the US it could be negligence to not see the patient and determine if any therapy is available.

@samueltyler2 shouldn’t testing be done to determine if any damage was done?

@Jenny1234 i taught medical students, residents and fellows to decide what, if anything, the result of a test would you have on therapy. If they could not come up with anything, they should not order such a test. As I said previously, though, today if someone is having or had a stroke, the physician should attempt to determine what is causing or caused the stroke. If there is a treatable cause the earlier the treatment, the less likely the long term effects!
