I've been trying to get an autism test done for a few years, but I've yet to get the opportunity. I get why ppl don't respect self diagnoses, but I also understand why people do them.

@BlueVeins Been considering the same.

I think what matters more than a diagnosis is the symptoms. If some TikTok videos help people suddenly put the pieces together that they have a bunch of issues they need to work on then I’m here for it

@WhateverWorks yeah that makes sense, then they might as well have that condition.
Maybe I'm just skeptical even though I try to put myself in those shoes

It’s all right to be skeptical, but it’s also good to remember that it’s not your life or your issues. @caPnAhab

I mean, getting a formal diagnosis is pretty expensive and a lot of people can’t afford it, so being able to self-diagnose is important for many people. But I do agree for sure that they should be careful when doing so and not just carelessly appropriate a condition.
Yeah well me and my multiple personalities arent impressed 😒

I wouldn't write them off entirely.
Actually I don't know what people talk on TikTok, but there are some really good YouTubers who talk of health issues.
When professional doctors couldn't figure out what was going on with me after so many tests, it was my research and self diagnosis that helped me, that directed these professional doctors to look there ...🤷 So yeah.

Most of the time they don't mean it seriously themselves.

Never underestimate a self diagnosis

After having watched a number of tick-tock’s my daughters and their friend have informed me that I have adhd, have a dissociative personality disorder and am likely autistic! Let me just say, I was impressed with their knowledge of the human mind!

it's very annoying
Paisen · 26-30
It irritates me too because people use labels as a defense of actions

Not at all. And rarely discuss personal ailments for that reason. It’s like going on WebMD, people will have you thinking you’ve bubonic plague. 😳
I don't talk to ticktoc users (jk) 😅

Time was, before TikTok, the running joke about those people was that they had consulted with Dr. Google.
No, I don't take them seriously.

It saddens me how screwed up people are becoming and a lot of it is due to internet and the things people read and the people they talk/chat with.
