@bill117 After being diagnosed as pre diabetic I spent a couple of hours with the diabetes nurse. She takes special training yearly and only works with diabetes patients. She said all cereal, including oatmeal, with milk was terrible for me and to stop it immediately. I haven't had milk and cereal in almost a year now. Breads and sweets had to be limited. I needed to start eating more proteins. So I have more meats and vegetables now. She also told me the if I am going to have a heavily loaded carbohydrate meal like spaghetti to have a salad first. They have clinical research showing that if you have a salad first it will reduce the sugar intake by half. So that's what I have done. I was also told to exercise more. She really liked walking. I wear a Garmin fitness tracker. So I doubled my steps per day also. So far in 9 months I have dropped my A1C number from 7.9 to 5.8. 5.6 is normal. I have also lost 39 pounds.
