I guess I've been a bad boy and had it coming to me, got Covid

Thought I ate some bad food at work when I started feeling hot all over, especially the chest and face. Started feeling light-headed and dizzy, nauseous, with general pain all over. Finished my shift and made it straight home just a couple of miles away ok. Then it gets worse. Woke up and read my temperature at 101.9°F and felt even hotter. Called in sick and was asked to complete a Covid test. Took the antigen rapid test and, oh well I guess it's my turn - tested positive for Covid. Twice. Advice is to isolate at home for a week.

Aside from running a temperature, there's this nagging cough with pounding headache, body chills, weakness and fatigue, sheets drenched with overnight sweats, and now sneezing, sniffling, red and itchy watery eyes. This version of Covid (B-A5 Omicron Subvariant?) is a milder form and very similar symptoms to the flu so I'm drinking lots of fluids, eating my veggies/fruits with a serving of protein when I can keep it down, not to mention a variety of meds. My dreams are bizarre and weird. Covid is no walk in the park, but at least I'm being a good boy now. Alright guys, I can hear the I-told-ya-so's coming, so let's have it.

Hopefully you have someone looking after you - especially at night. For some reason the symptoms tend to get worse at night? Take care

Thanks but I don't have that luxury, except for the watchful creator. And yes for some reason the symptoms do seem to worsen before sleep. Possibly due to the body preparing for full rest. 😉

@PatKirby My girlfriend got the first strain (in 2020) and had a horrible time breathing. She slept with the door unlocked in case she needed to call the ambulance in the middle of the night. Hopefully this variant is not as bad. Wishing you a quick recovery.

That's good to hear she made it? I've had no problem breathing except for the cough that's already subsiding. There is however a distinct sense of overwhelming sadness throughout, don't know where that came from. Oh well, no one's perfect.

@PatKirby Oh gosh. I am sorry to hear that. You are not alone. I get depressed when I am rundown or sick too. I am a visiting nurse and it is very common amongst chronically ill patients. It's something that needs to be talked about more. Just you saying this could make a difference to another person feeling the same way. 🤗

As life goes by I noticed when I get sick I get sad and a bit whiny, but not depressed. Thought it was just me. Wonder if it's the drop in testosterone and proportion to estrogen balance. But yeah it's noticeable while ill as I get older.

@PatKirby Sorry for the late reply ... hope you are feeling better 🙂. You make a really good observation regarding hormone imbalance. You may way want to look up DHEA. You can purchase a cream (Amazon) and rub on your skin. I have started using it and my brain fog is clearing slowly. Hormone deficiency can cause a myriad of problems that are frightening - especially relating to your heart. Any who ... Just a friendly suggestion 💮
