2 Dose vaccine, or Booster?

Its been a year since my first 2 dose Covid vaccine. Anyone know if booster is needed as Im overdue, or would it just be getting another 2 dose Covid vaccine again since its been a year?
I will also check with my pharmacy, I was curious here too though, if anyone knows.

A booster, which is the original vaccine is recommended after you get the original vaccine (1 or 2 doses depending upon which vaccine you got). If you are immunocompromised then you for sure need the booster. Right this moment, the booster is the original vaccine, but it appears there will soon be a booster that better deals with the newer variants. Because I was fighting cancer during the 2020-2022 outbreak, I have had a total of 5 doses and the worst reaction I got was a bit of a sore arm for a day.

DO NOT base what you do on what I or anyone else here says. Speak to your doctor. This is science. Only medical science has the best information. Take everything else as hearsay.

@Ontheroad @Ontheroad Im sorry you were fighting cancer..are you in remission? 🌻
Right, Ill double check with my doc on the booster as well. I just wonder if there have been trials for this new booster?

@Coralmist I am cancer free! Thanks for asking.

The new booster Pfizer has been trying to get approved has been clinically tested - just waiting for approval.

@Ontheroad I think it just said as of tomorrow its approved, if I just heard the news on tv right. Literally five mins ago. And the rollout of shots begin next week. Good to know there were trials ...I want to know its safe you know? So glad you are healed!!!🦋🤗

There was a smaller human trial for the updated booster.

From a Pfizer press release:
The Omicron adapted vaccine candidates (30 µg and 60 µg) studied in the Phase 2/3 trial in 1,234 participants 56 years of age and older elicited substantially higher neutralizing antibody responses against Omicron BA.1 when compared to the companies’ current COVID-19 vaccine.

Smaller trial because it's quite similar to the original vaccine. The original vaccine's phase 3 trials involved around 45,000 participants for the Pfizer version.
