On the radio news, I heard Brandon has tested positive for Covid, again.

Isn't he the one who, about a year ago, was telling us to stop being selfish and get vaxxed?

And the strain that’s infected him isn’t the same one that was around a year ago.
@AbbySvenz True. This is a newer, very infectious strain.
AbbySvenz · F
It also tends to evade antibodies from previous strains, so prior infection or vaccination protection isn’t as effective

@AbbySvenz Is this according to Fauci? He makes Pinocchio look like an amateur.
🤓
@ProfessorPlum77 It's according to what labs actually studying the virus are finding, and it agrees with observations like local hospitals here being basically "at capacity" due to CoViD. 😧🥺

@SomeMichGuy So, you believe the reports? I am asking a sincere question.
@ProfessorPlum77 It agrees with observations I personally made locally which matches up with state-based maps, etc.

Yes, I believe science reports when they are reports from reputable outlets about actual research, not opinions about rumors/other lay opinions. And I check them when they seem conflicting, etc.

No, it is according to the latest research coming out on the latest variant.

It isn’t that BA.5 is necessarily more transmissible, so much that it is escaping prior immunity.

This isn’t anything new— surely you’ve had more than one cold or case of the flu in your lifetime @ProfessorPlum77
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@AbbySvenz Well, I have had more than one case of flu and I have had several colds. However, I don't remember the government closing down businesses, schools, and countries because of colds and/or flu.

Well, you weren’t around in 1918 🤷‍♀️ @ProfessorPlum77
