so i am trying to read the new info for Corona virus...

It is even more convoluted than it used to be. How many people in the world are dying from Coronavirus each day? Are people still getting it and not dying ? and do you think we will be in quarantine again in winter?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
The US numbers are still available through the CDC. People are still getting the virus and surviving in the US, and people are still dying--over 1,000 the other day. Numbers are ticking up in the US right now.

I don't know whether we will be in quarantine this winter. It will depend on the specific situation at the time and whether there is a new varient or not. The US will follow where the science leads.
@windinhishair thank you

@DIABLISS Any time. Facts and science matters, and people need to know the facts so they can make informed decisions.
Right now..today...in the U.S. there are more cases of COVID than this time last year. It is hard to track the cases.........other than hospital admissions and deaths.....because no one is being tested anymore. But by hospital admissions........the rate of admissions is much higher than last year.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@anythingoes477 There is still quite a bit of testing, but most of it is at-home testing done by individuals that doesn't get reported. This means the case count that does get tracked is vastly underestimated.
@windinhishair Exactly. The deaths are not underreported............by hospitals......but some dummies have actually threatened to sue coroners if they put COVID as a cause of death on death certificates. Sooooo anti-science that they won't admit COVID exists or killed a loved one. There was a special here on TV that showed locals in the St. Louis area........devout trumpers......now squealing they are being screwed by the government because they found out that FEMA would pay up to $7500 for funeral expense if a family member of a low income person died of COVID..........but they screwed themselves by demanding the death report say "natural causes"--and now they can't get it changed back. I don't care who you are...that's just funny.

@anythingoes477 That's a good example of being your own enemy. It also shows that their beliefs are for sale.

The numbers are rising people are more likely to survive if they take the vaccine, reporting is untrustworthy. Example, in my home USA state our DHEC did a wonderful job of reporting and getting the right information out to people, and getting people vaccinated. However, the GOP fired for no good reason our DHEC director and replaced him with a totally unqualified brown noser to our governor, so they are now ineffective and spreading GOP propaganda.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@BackyardShaman There is already a disparity in deaths between Republican and Democrat voters, and the gap will continue to widen with one party having much lower vaccination rates.

People who test negative at a clinic with no symptoms and then who test positive at home days after exhibiting symptoms aren't added to the COVID data so the numbers aren't showing everyone who contracts it. I believe COVID will be around for a long time just like the flu and the cold because they mutate. We can't select how severe or mild our symptoms are based on our age or health status. I care if I cause someone to experience severe symptoms of COVID and I don't want to get it a second time so I'm continuing to be safe. There's a fifty-fifty chance of catching it once or again. The removal of the six feet rule and the removal or reduction of the mask mandates may have increased the numbers of people testing positive for COVID.
@joahola98wj i completely agree

Yes, people are still getting it, even with the watering down of reporting criteria.

196 new cases reported worldwide yesterday, and 463 deaths.

@AbbySvenz thank you

Since day 1 in 2018 that the virus became 'known' it has not changed. As it has mutated variants and sub-variants have come and gone. Remember that regardless of the drugs, the virus still mutates and now it 'knows' what the drugs look like (in a really wierd kind of way) so the current sub-variants evade the drug-triggered antibodies. Heaps of people have got Covid naturally and not got ill or sick or died. I'm living proof of that as far as I can tell.
@zonavar68 it came about in 2019. and how bad did you have it?
Elessar · 26-30, M
You can find the official numbers at the usual places
@Elessar gee thanks

@swirlie Why ?
No Test => No Case
Problem Solved.

It is what CDC recommend now 😁

@Stereoguy i don't care what the world leaders say....that never did us any good when that thing first came about. they have a million people feeding them misinformation.
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@Stereoguy Same is happening here. but the airlines still require you to be 'fully vaxed' to fly, so still only the jabbed people are travelling and sharing the virus between countries. same as it's been since March 2020 (here in Oz). That's why the plandemic is such a scam - blaming the unvaxed but the unvaxed cannot travel international still so Omicron can only have got to australia with 'fully vaxed' people.

@swirlie it is prudent to limit contact to the extent possible for large groups, and to remain masked, even if fully vaccinated and boosted. Canada has the right idea and approach.

@swirlie I still see a smattering of people wearing masks and social distancing such as myself. But you're right, it is fewer than a year ago.
