To be fair, the Christian apocalyptic vision isn’t a conspiracy theory per se.
A conspiracy theory explains current events through dark and sinister plots involving secret groups and so on. [i]I’m tired all the time because the Illuminati are spraying halcyon on me through chemtrails.[/i]
A feature of Christianity is eschatology. The theology of the end of the world. Most see that as something that is always immanent. It’s a minority who are convinced it’s coming next week.
There are a couple here preaching that. They seem to when they are upset. It comes and goes.

Yeah i guess i phrased that badly. I don't think of latter day beliefs as a conspiracy theory so much as a wacky fringe belief. But it's people who hold a lot of conspiracy theories that i've noticed taking up this belief more in recent years.
