‘Stop being an idiot and believe the scientists’ [I Wonder If I Have Coronavirus / Covid19]

Because apparently science is actually a dogma in which all scientists agree on everything 100% of the time and the government is the most qualified pope of the scientists and we already knew everything from the get go, no questions needed, infact we should have stuck with the flat earth that ‘all the scientists’ agreed was true. Anything else is a conspiracy theory.

The general drop in IQ has really shown these last ten years.

Honestly... I don’t care what the scientists say. When we knew the symptoms, we knew the type of transmission.

Six feet apart was already a concept (watch the movie five feet apart which was based on the same rule). Masks were already used for pretty much the same reason in other countries.

It’s common sense at this point. People are ignoring common sense (on both sides).

This is from the WSJ. Another Rupert Murdoch company
@SW-User They don't NEED a mask mandate in Japan, people do it naturally ANYWAYS without laws.

Its just part of their culture. Her argument is bullshit.

@BetweenKittensandRiots I knew that. There is a common trend for people to post something and just expect it to be fact (I blame Fox and Rush Limbaugh).

I don’t mind spending the extra minute to help back up my points with facts. It tends to end the conversation quickly.

@MalteseFalconPunch I disagree with you and so I am stupid. I am not small minded enough to return that sentiment. Bye.

infact we should have stuck with the flat earth that ‘all the scientists’ agreed was true.

Exactly

Science isn't set in stone. It's based on observations and assumptions and sometimes assumptions are wrong.

And what knowledge do you have that they lack?
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
They know things I know and vice versa which is why we should never take this stance of ‘I have a perfect understanding, so never question anything, my view is science’ and why I disagree with censorship. I have constantly changed my mind on things @CountScrofula

@lynncelestial You realize you can think independently and trust scientists at the same time, right. The science on covid is constantly evolving (for example masks weren't a big deal at first) because its a new disease.

So of course I read independently, keep up, and try to understand how this works and the rationale behind policy recommendations.

At the same time, I also trust that the scientists who are working on the pandemic response know what they're doing and are experts in their field. I also understand that I am not. I cannot just google a bunch of shit and make up for 30 years academic work and training.

And to think that some google searches and youtube videos gives me equivalent expertise is arrogant and extremely stupid.
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
@CountScrofula flipping heck xD all that over my post. Keep ‘googling shit’ and get a life. My partner llterally works with an ambulance service who trials the covid vaccine and when challenging the official narrative against those that hide behind ‘I trust the scientists’
All of a sudden the response is ‘well doctors aren’t always right’, which is also the argument of anti vaxxers, flat earthers etc
What seems to be the case is that a lot of stupid people hide behind what the gov says so they can fall back on an appeal to authority. And what the scientists actually say is irrelevant to them, the only ones relevant are the gov and social media as they hold the power, and then they cherry-pick scientists that support the gov narrative to convince themselves that their beliefs are based in rationality and not appealing to authority.
Try working in the medical sector and speaking out and see how suddenly many people ‘don’t believe doctors are always right’ when it is convenient. The government is always right to them though.
