A new normal that's very difficult

My sister has had unstable diabetes for many years. Her body is so sensitive to insulin she can never fully take what her body needs. So her sugars stay high. After years of it, she's developed neuropathy in her feet. It's AWFUL. Numb, horrible pain too. She can barely walk..she's my best friend so to see her health decline is so hard. We occasionally go to a store together like we used to, but I now push her in a wheelchair.

My heart just hurts so much seeing a vibrant person like this. And the harrowing part? Neuropathy rarely improves, nerves die and the numbness is all encompassing. People on her forum say they want and hope to die, it's so debilitating.
All we can hope for is her doctor to admit her to the hospital to go on an insulin drip occasionally, to bring her sugars down...but we have not had the OK yet.
I just wish things could be as they were years ago when we did lots of things together. It's so unfair, she's such a wonderful person 😟
