Has anyone had surgery for an umbilical hernia?

I have one from doing those a machines at the gym. I probably wasn't even doing it correctly. I have been pushing in my belly button for awhile now and I know that I will eventually have to have the surgery. My stomach hurts and is badly swollen constantly. Has anyone here had the surgery? Could use some tips I guess.

Yes. Have a small one now. Leaving it alone. Was years ago had the first one fixed. Back then they used staples to close. Hurt like hell. They hurt worse than anything else. I'm certain it's easier now.

@bookerdana how long was recovery? I work out at the gym every day and work a full time job. How long would I be off? Did you have stomach pain around belly button and severe bloating before you had the surgery?

@Mardrae its tender for afew days ,no bloating..best to do this early ,it gets worse
This simple surgery is one of many which the intrepid DIY-er is now undertaking at home.

I think RFK, Jr., is selling kits for it. And Vit A, and ivermectin & bleach!

@SomeMichGuy ??? I don't understand I have been taking Vitamin A for years and it hasn't helped this. And how would a parasite cleanse get rid of a hernia.

Have you spoken to a physician about it?

@Elisbch how long was recovery? And did they do it laporscopically? I know I misspelled that word. I found out I need a general surgeon. My endocrinologist set up a referral for me today but they haven't called me yet. I'm really worried about getting the surgery because my job is very physical and I also work out every day which is very important to me. I don't have many PTO hours left at work either. So I'm stressed about it

@Mardrae

I will answer you but I need to think about it for a day. It's been many many years ago. They did it laparoscopically. Three small incisions were made. One on my left side of my stomach and one on the right side of my stomach and also they went through my belly button. I'm not exactly sure but I think the camera went in through the belly button and their tools to fix it went through the other holes. My scars are so small you can barely see them. I need to think about my recovery because I have forgotten a lot of it but I will get back with you very soon. You will not be able to work out for a while and you may be off work for a while but I can't tell you how long. If I can remember exactly how it works for me I will let you know ASAP. That's what I need to think about. You will get a lot of answers once you visit the general surgeon.
May I text you privately tomorrow with more information? If not I'll post it here.
