Those of you who have had COVID, do you know which strain you likely had?

Based on when and where I got it and my significant loss of sense of smell, ChatGPT says that I most likely had the D614G variant, and if not that then the original wild-type strain.

What about you? And if you don’t know which strain, tell me approximately when and where you got Covid and I can find out for you!

I had it twice, the original in late 2020 & then in 2022. The first time I lost taste & smell for several days, was quite relieved when it came back. The second time I didn't lose them at all.

Some sub variants of Omicron all the time because I managed not to catch in until 2022.

(Actually I could've gotten the O.G. strain asymptomatically back in Feb 2020 because I had a lot of contacts with then diagnosed people, or I was just lucky and didn't catch it)

I'm not sure. I got it very early on though, got sick in December 2019 after flying on a plane and was sick for a few months.

@thepreposterouspanda I’m glad that aside from losing my sense of smell I had no other symptoms. My dad didn’t even believe I had it until I got the antibody test

@Zeuro I lost my sense of smell and had a really hard time breathing for about three months. Really glad I came off immunosuppressants about six months prior because I think it would have been a lot worse. 😅

@thepreposterouspanda oh yeah could have been really bad

I got it right after Halloween of 2020
The only reason I realize it was because I was munching on some reeces pieces and they had no taste 😱 got tested and yup I had it 😷
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Zeuro Fully gone for a year
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@Elessar did he say what it’s at now?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Zeuro He can't quantify much because after a whole year without tasting anything he can't exactly remember how different it was before, but yeah he says it's quite less perceptible now. As soon as he gets even the smallest cold he loses them again, but at least now they return as soon as he recover
I most likely had whatever the original strain was since I had it in June of the year that it became known. I also had it last summer but it was very mild case.
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@istillhaveanameitsrick June of 2020? That was likely the D614G then, it had largely supplanted the original by May
@Zeuro Don't know which strain. I never lost my sense of taste or smell but nothing tasted good...except grilled cheese sandwiches for some reason LOL

Last August, despite vaccinations. And I did lose a sense of taste.
Honestly, no idea but it was hell. I was coughing like I had COPD for like 6 months after I officially beat the bug. Made my lungs hyper sensitive to everything.
