I have COPD, so they say, and use a once a day inhaler. My normal has been 88-92 for at least the past 5 years. I went to war with several doctors who wanted to send me home with oxygen after my stroke therapy 6 weeks after Vickie passed. I kept telling them a low of 88 was normal for me. I was connected to a constant monitor. With the help of 2 therapists I won the war. They had me focus on my breathing technique while working out. One day one of the doctors battling me came into the gym which they never did and checked my monitor which I looked at with a smile and handed to him. It said 97. He asked the therapist what the oxygen bottle level was set to. She said oh it's been on zero since he's been out of his room. Lol I WIN.
It hasn't been there again since that day but I learned how, and you can too, get my oxygen levels up. Stress works against you. Relaxing your mind and deep breathing in your nose and out your mouth especially with exercise can bring it up. I'm very sedentary these days but levels stay at that 88-92 normal.

@itsok Well if your normal is 98 I can understand you feeling that way. I really do believe however if you do breathing exercises and RELAX while doing them you will feel better and your number will go up.

@Gibbon Your post reminds me of my Dad - he always told me "we know our bodies best"...he's 98 now.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@fun4us2b Yes I don't have the worries itsok is discussing in this thread. That battle in the hospital was a victory like completing a Mt Everest climb. Two of the doctors had me so pissed because they weren't listening. I was thankful to the therapists working with me and observing me. They were secretly playing with the levels of my oxygen feed because I was so stressed arguing with the doctors. I was creating tension and stress on myself and they got me out of that place mentally.

Be careful girl!

I got Influenza A on the 21st and I went down SO fast in a matter of hours. The nebs weren't working and I ended up on a Bi-pap in the ER for several hours then a mutli-day hospital stay.

I was at 92% that morning and 87% by 6pm.

I hope you get and feel better soon!!!!
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
@itsok I ended up on steroids too, I hate their side effects but damn being able to breathe is so much better.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
@itsok it's a tough virus. My husband and kid had it first, and neither are asthmatic but damn it's been like 2 weeks for hb and he's still wheezing worse than me. It totally kicked our butts.

Just keep an eye on your 02%...it can tank so fast and it's so scary. You're in my thoughts. 🙏
itsok · 31-35, F
@Starcrossed thank you so much
AntisocialTroll · 56-60, F
My pulmonary physio recommends something called autogenic drainage to help clear the mucus, if you're not already doing it, give it a try.

Cut your carbs down. It seems to help.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
@itsok I'm an atheist, your on your own there.
itsok · 31-35, F
@HobNoblin perfect sacrifice, then
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
@itsok So are you Aztec or something?
ScarletWitch · 31-35, F
I dont know much about these things. What % do u want it to be at? And why is it bad where you are at now?
ScarletWitch · 31-35, F
@itsok it might work. But for me it was so severe i had to take steps. No mirrors. No touching. Any wound or sore had to be patched up with a star patch or a bigger one. Inwas clean fornanyear and 7 months. I did shave my eyebrows off. So my face is kinda naked.
@itsok what are your doctors saying is the underlying causation of your severe asthma?

Hmm. That’s tough. Hope it improves.
thats scary. please take care of yourself.
I really hope you feel better soon
itsok · 31-35, F
@Bexsy thank you
@itsok you're welcome, it's been a horrible time for it. My daughter hasn't had to use her nebulizer in so very long, but I had to give her a treatment last week.
itsok · 31-35, F
@Bexsy prior to this I think it’s been years since I’ve had it this bad. Even Covid didn’t do this to me
Classified · M
Has it improved by now? 😥
Classified · M
@itsok Is that high enough. I think you need to go a little higher still.
itsok · 31-35, F
@Classified yeah it’s still low, but not scary low like yesterday
Classified · M
@itsok And that it went up is a good sign. It'll go back into green values. 😄
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
Please take care, and go get checked out.

@itsok That's good. I kind of meant like in the day, because you are sick. They're not making you come to work, are they?
itsok · 31-35, F
@BlueVeins yeah. I called out on the 26th. I went in on the 27th and had to leave because I was too sick. That’s when I went to the dr. And I worked Saturday Sunday and Monday too. I’m off today and tomorrow
BlueVeins · 22-25
@itsok It sounds like you've been busy. :\ Take it easy baby. Get well swoon. <3
You need to go in... At the very least, you need observation overnight...
itsok · 31-35, F
@HootyTheNightOwl I really don’t want to
@itsok Nobody does... but, if your condition rapidly changes, it's the best place to be.
SW-User
What condition do you have
itsok · 31-35, F
@SW-User asthma
sp1dwoOfe221 · 31-35, M
welby...is that like the home medical device version of danby??
itsok · 31-35, F
@sp1dwoOfe221 not sure what you’re talking about, it’s just an oximeter. I’ve had lots of brands
ABCDEF7 · M
What breathing treatment you are taking?
ABCDEF7 · M
@itsok Was there any breathing treatment that you were taking before the inhaler.
itsok · 31-35, F
@ABCDEF7 albuterol in the nebulizer, followed by albuterol in the inhaler
ABCDEF7 · M
@itsok Ok thanks, I personally didn't found nebulizing as a good experience. It feels suffocated to me.

I was thinking breathing treatment as some breathing exercise.
@itsok I'm so sorry 😞
I have asthma too and understand how scary that can feel 😕
Has anything worked for you to make it bareable ?
itsok · 31-35, F
@pripyatamusementpark I’m doing the nebulizer and inhaler, keeping the heat low, trying to clear everything I can. I hate the coughing but know how bad it can get if I don’t clear mucus. I’ve been doing baths every night too.
Mornings are the worst. This morning I woke up at 3am and spent half an hour having an attack til I vomited. Fell back asleep at 4 and was back awake at 7 to do it again
Elisbch · M
@itsok .. I sincerely hope you're much better now. If someone hasn't already said it, Mucinex is really good for working up phlem. At least it's worked for me really well. I to have breathing issues.
This is not good. Are you sick?
itsok · 31-35, F
@Guardian yeah
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
