What happens If I die and have no money or family?

So if I die and have no family or money. What happens? Do they just cremate me? Who pays the bill? I have no money.

Most Municipalities and Counties have a procedure for funerals for what they call "paupers" and will give you at least a decent burial or cremation depending on their regulations.

@spjennifer years ago I was friends with a mortician that told me this is how it worked for our county in a US State: when a stiff was declared (pauper death), the coroners office had a rotation list of all the morticians in the county and rotated the labor and expenses between those funeral homes.

@BackyardShaman That's probably how it works in many places, the county pays the mortician a minimum and the pauper gets the el cheapo funeral.
