Less sugar is big, but you need to dramatically cut your carb intake too. Try protein, about 6oz for lunch and dinner. Mix in a salad at least once a day and be careful of the dressing.
Others have mentioned working out. Definitely try to go hard for 15 minutes to start. Then ramp it up to a half hour daily.
Men should easily be able to drop 15-20lbs in just the first month IF you stick with the plan.
