Purple Rice?

We have pop-up places at work, where local vendors visit for one day with food. It is cooked already, they just keep it warm. It is part of a service called Fooda. There is daily rotation.

Today, there was one place with what looked like Korean food. But I do not know much about it. I just looked at it and pointed at what I saw and like: potatoes, carrots, and beef. And teriyaki sauce.

They were out of white rice but had "purple rice."

I was like, "What's that? I have never heard of it before."

She said, "It is a mix of white and wild."

I asked, "So, it is still rice, just purple?"

"Yeah", she said.

"OK, I'll have purple."

I am eating it now. Yum. The beef is good, too.

Purple rice. You learn something new every day!

The rest of the food has normal colors though, yet tinted now by teriyaki sauce.

I've never seen it personally, but I know it exists. Neat.

It was pretty good. Yet most of what I had was white rice stained purple by the black (purple?) rice mixed in with it.

That is so awesome! I would love some good Chinese food, but no one here makes it good. All they want to do is add a cup of sugar to every dish. ☹

I love Chinese, too. I am more familiar with it, too

I was looking at photos online of purple (or black) rice, and then at what I was eating, and realized it was a mix of normal white rice and the black/purple rice. If it had been all black, it would be different. The grains are smaller, and at first I thought my rice had little beans in it. No, the black rice has a black bran on it.

I should have put raspberries on it.
