Eating problems...

I have.. (slight?) eating problems. (I think)

I eat very little. One of the reasons is that I'm.. insecure about my weight, despite currently being literal skin and bone. Another reason is that sometimes I can't tell when I'm hungry.

I've eaten so little for so long up to the point where I have to eat small portions at a time from meals (no matter what size they are) unless I want to feel sick. I'm also having trouble telling the difference between feeling sick and feeling hungry. The problem is that my natural instinct when I feel sick is 'don't eat anything.'
And if I do eat something even if I'm not sick but just hungry, if I think I'm sick I'll start to feel sick.

I'm getting a bit concerned and I'm trying to.. fix the eating problems. I'm trying to eat a bit more than I normally do when I feel hungry and I'm actually able to eat. I'm trying to have more than just one or sometimes two meals a day, but there's still a stubborn part of me that just refuses.

I'd really appreciate it if I could get advice, motivation, just anything that'll help really..
Have you seen a psychologist who specialises in anorexia and bulimia?

There is a Twelve Step group for people eating disorders - free - and very helpful to get tips from others struggling with similar problems.

If I were in your position, I'd start with a food, water/liquid, sleep and exercise diary.
Record the date, your hight and weight. Go on line to work out your BMI (Body Mass Index) a very rough guide to healthy weight range. Make it your goal to get to the lightest end of the right weight for your hight.
Consider setting a goal, such as gaining 2 pounds or 1 kilo per week. That's slow and safe.
Weigh yourself once a week and record it in your diary.
Also record your thoughts, feelings, wins and losses. Notice if the not eating has any association with particular emotions.

Focus on having the healthiest food possible, buy fresh ingredients and prepare them at home. Aim to eat one third more than you would normally. One to two meals a day is fine.
One sign that you are hungry is having sharper smell. Start paying particualr attention to all the smells around you, particularly the smells of food, flowers, herbs, fruit, etc.
Eat very slowly, paying full attention to the smell, flavours and textures of each bite. Make it into a sensual and enjoyable thing. Contemplate the benefits of better energy, immunity, health and beauty. Don't force yourself if you feel sick.

Research nutrition. Find out the latest about how our mitochondria function. Find out how vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, carbs, fermented foods (yogurt, kefir, sourkraut etc) work. Learn about the gut miroflora or biome, and how to cultivate beneficial bacteria and starve the harmful ones by eating the right foods. This research will help build enthusiasm for eating.

In many cases, people with anorexia have highly overcontrolling parents. Food becomes the only way available to have an area of self-autonomy. However, the irony is that you end up controlling yourself, and often trying to aim for such perfection that the standard is impossible to reach.
If this seems like you, try experimenting with things that require flexibility: very gentle yoga, floating in water, creative games/art/improvisation/play - maybe theater sports. Anything that requires exploration, discovery, letting chance and serendipity play some small role in your life. A little bit at a time, nothing too drastic or risky.

I'd love to know what you think of these suggestions.
And if you decide to try any of them, I'd love to hear how it's working.

@hartfire Alright, tysm!
Instead of forcing yourself to eat more over the course of three larger meals, maybe try having six smaller meals.

@HootyTheNightOwl Aight, thanks.
Sounds like you are anorexic..? The less you eat the more your stomach will shrink .. you have to find healthy eating habits and not be extreme in rationing your food 😕 else you'll starve to death 😕
