Ever eaten takeout left in hot car for an hour?

My mom picked up a sub for me, chicken peppers and cheese. She had one ice pack to keep my sub in the car but it didn't reach the end of the sub. It was in her hot car an hour and a half. It was a bit warm on the end and the cheese melting but my sister said it was in a cooler still, and only an hour or so ...and should be ok. I have a very tiny rumbling stomach two hours after eating it. I hope it's ok. Have you ever had food left in car a bit and were fine?

Knowing your mother as you have described her , I would insist she ate a bit before you do

hmm noope but as a camper and wildlife girl, I have many times eaten stuff that stayed for longer than they should have.. using the rule of my senses, if it's not tingly for my taste or stingy and if it doesn't look like it's gotten bad, it is most probably okay. But you got to train and trust those senses.

For your story, I hope you are okay. I don't think it is that bad really, esp that there was a cooler there too. An hour isn't that long.

@Boeing Ty my friend. I only hesitated Bec in the car, it gets to 130 degrees, and chicken in that temp is in danger zone , over an hour. And that cooler didn't have ice in it so it was risky but I'm glad everything was ok. I worry Bec I've had food poisoning and it was the worst week of my LIFE😢 I appreciate your reply!

If it didn’t smell or tasted weird, chances are all is well

With an ice pack it should be fine even if it wasn't directly touching it everywhere. And I'm sure people eat food from hot places even after longer than an hour and still are totally fine. 😅

@CrazyMusicLover Well it's b/c the inside of the car is about 130 degrees (F) which is really hot... and the melting cheese and warm chicken when she got home, was from that heat... it can multiply bacteria in heat like that, giving you E. Coli. but, I'm so glad all was ok. I did get a little stomachache, rumbling for about an hour. But it was not enough be food poisoning !! SO grateful :)
