I will be shopping Aldi again

I went once years ago but never did again until last week. I enjoyed all the items I bought. Especially this hummus that was AWESOME. Park Farms Caramelized onion hummus. Wow, I ate like half the container when I got home it was so good!!
Loved their French dark chocolate biscuit at Aldi too. Will go back soon!

their chocolate is unbeatable, cookies are just as good as national brands, all their cheeses are good, buy my baby back ribs and salmon there, coffee is as good as Maxwell house and try their BBQ sauses, get my Texas, St Louis and Carolina sauce there. Milk and eggs have no problem with

@saragoodtimes I really loved the dark chocolate dipped French biscuit cookie..mmm!! I skipped getting coffee in case I didn't like it but now I know, thanks✌
@Baybreeze I buy their Colimbian coffee at less than $12.00 compared to Maxwell house at around $16.00 here and Folgers is even more expensive

I hit Aldi at least once weekly so I know the ropes, incl the.....AISLE OF SHAAAAAAAAME!!!! 😂

I get mostly produce there and spring water bottles b/c we can easily go through a 24 pack at home in a day and they’re pretty cheap there compared to everywhere else.

Aldi has suddenly became one of my favorite grocery stores. I haven't tried the fresh meat yet but the fresh fruit and veggies are so good and their prices are great
@lomaine not a big fan of their meat but Salmon and Ribs are great. never had a problem with any of their frozen items. their butterfly shrimp works great in the air fryer

Aldis is nice.
HikingMan · 51-55, M
I love hummus. I hate onions.
Did they have a roasted garlic one?

I’ve never been inside an Aldi’s
What’s the seafood selection like?
HikingMan · 51-55, M
@Baybreeze I’ll look to see where their locations are near me.
I’ll remember your suggestion.
Thank you.
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@HikingMan No problem. And their Clancy's Pretzel slims were delicious dipped in it🙂
HikingMan · 51-55, M
@Baybreeze I’m not a big pretzel guy. I love garden vegetable crackers or saltines mostly.

I have eaten an entire sleeve of crackers with hummus for supper more than once.
Convivial · 26-30, F
They are good... And you're not tempted by a huge range of stuff you don't need
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
Where I am, the produce can be a bit wonky.
But there are plenty of other bargains I do like.
AdaXI · T
Are they German?🤔 [Ada quickly finds the alcohol section]🏃🏼‍♀‍➡

ArishMell · 70-79, M
@AdaXI It is German, as is Lidl.
AdaXI · T
@ArishMell Funny you mentioned Lidl as I knew that was German and at first I was a bit confused whether it was the same place haha 😅

Yeah I've been to Lidl before but I don't think I've ever shopped at Aldi 🙂

@Baybreeze @MellyMel22

way back I went in there randomly wondering what it was and I asked some lady in line why she shops here and she held up an orange and talked about "the material" I think she was insane
MellyMel22 · F
@unsociableAnthony They also switch your cart when you get there and sometimes give you a cart without a quarter. I don’t care about the quarter, but I wonder how those who do react 🤣🤣🤣
@MellyMel22 they will give a rant and do that thing with their head back and forth like women from the hood do is how I prefer to believe
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@unsociableAnthony That's too much lol..the material lol. Overall I liked all the products I bought. And I really saved a lot compared to other stores. I thought it interesting they lock the carriages and pay with a quarter?? But for exchange of lower price foods I'd go again. And I said to the cashier how much is a bag again ? He replied, you can just take some, no worries. So I got lucky. Lol.
lissah · 36-40, F
Ive only gone there one time
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
I went once to get a soda but never again, because they make you bring your own bags.

Then a few years later the county banned plastic bags, so we all have to bring our own everywhere. Unless you want to pay ten cents for a paper bag. So I guess my Aldi problem is everywhere, now. Except Aldi does not even offer paper bags, as far as I can tell.

As for the county plastic ban and the fee for paper bags, my solution has been to pay for a few, save them, as well as all bags from every store I go to (like Macy's). I keep them in my trunk. I carry all my food out in the cart, unbagged, and bag it when I reach my car. So annoying. Paper bags break! No handles!

Also, every time I go to a county with no plastic bag ban I grab some. I still use plastic bags for garbage!
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@JoyfulSilence I also keep several bags in trunk for stores that charge for bags. I knew I'd only need about four bags and was willing to pay the .40 , so I ask the Aldi cashier how much again for bags? He said just take some no worries. I lucked out. They were paper with handles!
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@JoyfulSilence Sorry but I don't see the problem, nor any reason not to use a specific shop simply because you need take your own bag.

Like you, I take bags with me. Easy. You still have to pack them yourself.

I have quite a collection of carrier bags, and they last a reasonable time if used with care. When shopping in Aldi or Lidl I take half-a dozen, and fill them from the trolley after paying, either at the packing-bench in the shop or at my car.

The Tesco "convenience shop" near me does sell bags but I usually take one from home.

I am pretty sure both Aldi and Lidl sell carrier-bags too, and they are quite good quality ones that last quite a number of trips if you are sensible with them.

The plastic bags for refuse are ones made for that, sold in rolls of 50 or 100.
