Beyond Meat CEO says "It's just not the moment for plant-based meat" after rebrand. They burned through $1 billion to reach this conclusion...

We don't need fake meat products made of bleeding plant-based proteins 🤢. Beyond Meat, and many other like them have done huge harm to the plant-based cause with their hyperprocessed much, which we consumers saw through.

They gave ammunition to the meat industry with which to question the merits of plant-based food. Plants are a superfood - you don't need to burn $1 billion to discover that. Animals are just a middle-man in our diets, they eat the plants that we could eat and give back far less than we put in.

Lab-grown meat is the only way we are going to reduce our overall meat consumption.

I'm a vegan and it's nice to have vegan meats in addition to all the whole foods in my diet. They really scratch that amerifat itch of mine for big, greasy burgers.

Humans are omnivores. We are built to eat meat. And animals convert things we can not easily digest (grass / hay) into easily digestible food.

The whole concept of trying to convince people to go meatless is very silly and a business model based on that idea deserves to fail.

"Plant based meat" is an oxymoron. Plants are plants. Meat is meat.

Lab grown meat is a very interesting idea if it can be done at scale and with reasonable quality. I wonder if enough work is being done along that route to see if it is feasible.

how can something made from peas cost more?
BlueVeins · 26-30
@StygianKohlrabi More processing, smaller market size, less competition, more R&D.
