So many have inspired me to learn to cook here...

I baked my first cake today.

An decorated the pieces that weren't burnt and kinda stuck to the pan. Small bit of surgery gettin' them pieces out. 🤷‍♀️

I once tried to make cupcakes as a kid ...read the recipe wrong...and as I sat there avidly watching my cupcakes rise .....they just kept rising ...and rising ...

Then they joined together...

Then they overflowed onto the baking tray...

Then overflowed off the tray onto the oven rack ..

Then through the rack onto the bottom of the oven .

Apparently: don't read 'tsp' as 'tbsp',...a tad too much baking powder does amazing things .

You done good!

Cooks tip: line the pan with paper...it helps stop tje outside of the cake from burning and sticking.

You grease the tin, line it, and then grease the paper.

Yeah I thought the biggest part was timing... No paper...no grease.....half my cake was a brick. 🤣

That's exactly as it happened.
I kept thinking ...its gonna stop any minute now....now?.....maybe now .

And yeah...EVERYONE has had more than one time they've cut the burt parts off a cake

(I secretly think that's where icing them started from 😆)

Another basic thing to remember is, its very much kitchen science.

You are making an edible chemical reaction .

A basic rule to remember is that , as soon as you add the wet ingredients to the dry ...the chemical reaction of ingredients starts.

And also ...every oven is different .

You may become great at cooking things ....then move ...and have to learn your new oven.

So its all practice , practice practice .

Its good to see people are cooking still.
Its a handy skill to have .
