I'm almost 27 and I'm still a virgin.

It is kind of starting to bother me.I'm not the most handsome guy but neither the ugliest.I was always a bit shy didn't go out much.I did have one girlfriend so far.I wasn't into hookups and stuff mostly cause I always wanted to wait for a special girl.But I don't is there a point in waiting anymore.Or should I just pay for sex or have a hookup?

I think a hook up or an escort are both good solutions to break the ice psychologically. if you meet a girl you really like and you've never done it you will start wanting everything to be perfect and that's an anxiety trap. the second you start to worry about if you're gonna be good or not, you will get anxiety and freez up. the good aspect of a professional is that you don't have to feel bad about wanting nothing else but also they're like doctors, if you get the right one you can just say its your first time and she'll teach you, the down side is that you'll be stuck with a "dirty little secret" that you might not want to tell your futur girlfriend and lies and secrets prevent a true connection.

Are you worried that special girl may not ever come and you'll never get to experience sex? I guess I would ask what your purpose in having sex would be? Would it be to experience the physical pleasure or would it be experience that pleasure with somebody you care about? Because those two experiences are different, imo.

@justme21 I think once you figure out what purpose sex serves for you, you can make that decision. If sex is a need, how can you fulfill that need and can you do so while waiting for that special person?
