have you ever realized someone was flirting with you months or years after the fact? Share your story

Mardrae · F
Yes! And boy have I regretted it! Many years ago I had a roommate who tried to kill herself, so I had to call emergency. One of the firemen who came was gorgeous and I recognized him as a customer at my work.
I was married at the time and my husband died in a bad accident about a year later.
The fireman came into my work and started asking me if I would come visit him at his station. I couldn’t understand why he wanted me to come visit him- I was badly grieving the loss of my husband. He kept coming in asking me to visit him but I never did because I kept thinking that he was some kind of counselor who was thinking I was suicidal or something because of my husband dying.
He stopped coming in my work and years went by without me seeing him there.
Fast forward to now. I have an elderly lady who rents a room from me and she has had to call an ambulance a few times. The first time I was there and there were tons of police and firemen at my house and the hot fireman was one of them! He recognized me and was very friendly and said he would come visit me at work sometime but he hasn’t so far.
My roommate called the ambulance again when I was at work and again, he was one of the firemen that showed up. She said he kept looking around and asking questions about me!
I realized that he was interested in me, even way back years ago. He had moved out of town and was now back at the same station by my house.
I got my nerve up and called the station and talked to him, thanking him for taking such good care of my roommate when I wasn’t there. I was sure that he would ask me for my phone number but he was polite and friendly but hung up pretty quickly without asking me for my number and I still haven’t seen him at my work.
So I know he probably has rules to go by as far as not fraternizing with people and no telling who was sitting next to him when I called. Maybe his boss.
Either way, years ago I had no clue he was actually probably trying to get to know me by asking me to come see him at his station and I will always regret not doing it years ago!

I’m kind of oblivious to that stuff (when it comes to someone maybe being interested in me)

On 2 occasions a woman has come up to me and started talking to me on a night out. I was rude, cause I was a jerk at the time and looking back yes maybe they were trying to initiate a flirt.

The guy who had the locker next to me my senior year of high school flirted with me allll the time including snapping my bra. He was so popular, I thought he was way out of my league. I had a boyfriend at the time and it didn't even register to me that I was on this other guys radar until I was probably mid 20s. I was so dumb. He was so into me it painfully obviously. 😅🫣🤷‍♀️

@Starcrossed i'm SO glad I didn't wear a bra back then lol
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
@lumberjackslam I'm pretty confident me now would auto reflex punch back if someone snapped my bra these days.

It's insane to think what teenage girls and woment 'tolerated' in the 90s that would land a perpetrator with an assault charge and an ankle bracelet these days.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
@lumberjackslam oh I did a few years back. He stayed super hot and his wife is probably a model. Their Facebook life looks pretty happy, I hope for their sake it isn't just a show.

I was a teenager and had just grown out of my ugly duckling phase at about age 15. This was before the internet was a common thing btw. I had guys hit on me so many times and I was so innocent and oblivious because I was very sheltered. It did not register to me that the guy my age inviting me back to see his tree house probably had other ideas but I was like, "no thanks I'm on my way somewhere." Then the poor guy who gave me his number and I was like, "oh I see you in class all the time" so I never called. LMAO
lakshsony · 31-35, F
@Doomflower he really tried. but lucky you who knows what he had on his mind after having you in his tree house. it's better to be safe than sorry.

Yes, when I was about 20 years old and clueless about women. I thought she was just trying to have a conversation. What looser I was. 🙄

Maybe, but there's no story. There were a few times when I shrugged or laughed off the attention, because I was unavailable. Looking back, I can see that perhaps some were hinting at more than friendship. I was not open to that kind of trouble.
lakshsony · 31-35, F
oh yes!!! and i almost mistook his flirting behavior for true love, how silly. lot's of people were telling me to follow old school dating style and not to follow the online dating trend. but i guess online apps are even better than dating someone you've known in person. that's exactly what happened to me with one of my working colleagues. i thought he was trying to be serious with me only after a few incidents i realized that he is super flirtatious. anyway, this incident diverted me to sugarbook, at least a more fun with less emotions platform but to my surprise i really coupled up with someone supposed to be my SD but yes it didn't last long enough. We still broke up on good terms.

Yes, many times.

Once when I was younger and more naive...

I live far from town in a redwood forest area and was out by the front entry of the property when a guy stopped in his car and asked me if I knew where the party was he was looking for.

I just told him no and he kept on asking me if I knew anyone that usually had parties, etc. I kept saying no and then turned around and walked away. Yes, it was a couple of weeks later that it occurred to me that he was most likely just using a come on line to get into a conversation with me.

Now I 'pick up' on those 'pick up' lines right away but if the guy, or girl, is cute I play along with it ...lol

I hope I understood your question right.
Plenty times.

One of my closest friends. When I told him I was going to marry my now husband, he went a bit weird.
@calicuz No. He stormed out of the car after yelling at me that he had nothing to stay in the UK for and then within weeks ran away to Canada.
lakshsony · 31-35, F
@V00doo is he still in touch with you and your husband? probably he was just too possessive about you and not ready to lose you to someone. friends do have strong feelings some times. as long as he didn't harm you and your family after wedding.
@lakshsony He's my child's godfather. We're cool

high school, 10/11th,

both of us were student managers of the wrestling team, watching the team practice, she lays downhands me a brush, I brush her hair, 5 or 10 minutes goes by, and that was that

flash forward 10 years, Adult Me would have have kicked Teen Me in the ass for not ventureing a bit further
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
no it's usually the opposite. I am hoping against hope that they are flirting with me when they say banal stuff
Morrigan · F
No, I continue to miss any possible flirting. It has to be really spelled out which i guess takes the fun out of it lol
LandOfOz · 61-69, M

BLP11520 · 61-69, M
