I stopped caring about someone’s financial status when going on a date and I’ve enjoyed dating so much more

I’m free from a petty way of thinking and it feels so good

im so glad you have discovered this!! it felt very intimidating for me to earn the attention of someone far more successful than myself. whether business, friendship, or dating.
I don’t think I’ve ever cared about financial status while on a date or even dating. We’re not at the point of saving for a wedding, buying a house or going to Mauritius yet.

Funny, I did almost the exact opposite. I’ll skip the eye candy for a woman that’s self-supporting.

The absolute last thing I want to hear about on a date is all the nice places you’ve been that your ex-husband paid for.

That’s why I take all my first dates to McDonalds and order from the value meal.

I want to be sure they are into me and not my love of cheap things.

What, did you used to do a credit check on your date first?
ProudMom46 · 46-50, FNew
@HumanEarth LOL no credit checks 😂

Enjoy their company instead...
Unless one is thinking about every date as an audition for Significant other or at least longterm relationship, it should not make much difference at all.

I think to a certain extent it matters cuz it solves a lot of financial headaches down the road if they at least have parity
ProudMom46 · 46-50, FNew
@Longpatrol I’ve always thought that way and it may be true if the relationship goes very long but the turnover rate in post divorce dating is a few months to a year and honestly if dating is going to be a lot more enjoyable when I don’t focus on negatives, I think it’s time well spent.
