I’m 36 and have never been in a romantic relationship before

Recently I discovered that I’m on the autism spectrum and that some of the symptoms of autism might be major contributors to the difficulties I’ve met with in attempting to attract a partner. Does anyone know of any resources or advice for someone in my situation who’s looking to attract a partner for the first time after about two decades of nothing but failure?

Like others have said in essence, try to locate autism spectrum support groups locally or online. At least there you may find ladies who understand and have similar issues. I know "autism spectrum disorder" represents a wide range of clinical presentations, but it seems a good starting point. If you meet someone you may like, have zero expectations. For example, if you want to approach her for a date, be okay inside if she says no. Expectations really hurt me years ago. If things didn't go the way I wanted or liked, I'd mentally beat myself up. Which in turn would be self-defeating because I was not being the real me when I'd meet someone else.

Lots of men have had few romantic relationships. Not a big deal. It will happen for you when it's supposed to. Provided we get ourselves out there. Good luck!

Friend of mine is a mental health doctor says basically nowadays everybody is somewhere on the autism spectrum it is a better Way for them to pass blame instead of saying your shy, you just blame it on autism. Everyone is a victim....

@dale74 I’m not shy, that’s not the problem.

Reach out online to people with autism who are in relationships or have been in relationships. Join sites with autistic members like Vent.

Join clubs/groups for autism. There's even dating coaches, meet ups, whatever for autistic people. 🧡

@Notsimilarreally I don’t live in a big city though, I don’t think we have much here.

@Theyitis try connecting with them online. Alot of people will fly to say, LA or wherever the big convention/meet is once a year or what have you. It's worth looking into and striving toward. You never know what could happen.

@allygator18 I read about the symptoms of autism and I thought they fit me so I got tested for it. Testing confirmed that I’m on the spectrum.
