I don't see what is wrong with having a preference with physical attraction. While the person as a whole is of course important, physical attraction also plays a role in a relationship. If it isn't there then it isn't there, and you shouldn't have to apologize for having a certain type.

Either way though you lose. If you don't respond you become the bad guy, if you tell him right off the bat that you don't find him attractive, you are also the bad guy. I think it is best to not hurt his feelings, and just ignore him. In his eyes you will just be a bitch, at least you aren't a mean bitch lol. There will be someone else out there who will find him attractive, just not you.

I think if you are on a dating site, you are inviting messages from interested parties. If you get one from someone who doesn't interest you, it's only simple courtesy to respond with that information.

Otherwise it's like saying 'call me' and hanging up when they call.

Maybe just prepare a short polite thanks, but no thanks' response you can copy and paste.

Among the women who appear to be genuine, I've all but stopped bothering to be honest. If they are too attractive, I write it off as hopeless. If I'm not attracted to them, it also wouldn't be fair to go into it. Then there are the many who simply don't share any interests or ideas at all, and I don't know how to approach someone when we missed each other on basically every beat. And then there are those who have almost no profile data, so that's a no go. Among those left who seem approachable to me, they never answer.

Yes it's ok to ignore someone if they can't take a hint after the first message. Rejection is difficult but one has got to suck it up and move on.
