Is there something you wanted to believe in, but no longer can?

God, I’m from a catholic family and at difficult times it has brought family members real peace

Honest politicians, and honest news reporting.

The idea that "you can do anything if you only try".

Including presumably, learning Latin-American dancing.

On the other hand, if I had fallen for this platitude, which too often just a cruel lie and anyway usually has the opposite to its intended effect, I would have been even more upset when I found out the truth.

Oh, and why is this question in its wrong Group?

God and the afterlife.

Christianity. I was raised Christian but now that I understand the history of the church, I can no longer accept this as the truth. I can only believe in God, without any religious association.

God, real love, friendship, the justice system, people. That anything will ever get better .
calicuz · 51-55, M
@SW-User

God: Believe in God and ignore religion

Real Love: Less emotion, and more actions in keeping you two together

Justice System: Hold true to The Constitution

People: Forget it, it's you against the world

Will it ever get better: It will get better, probably not in our life time. No empire rules forever, so the suffering will come to an end at some point.
That turning negatives into positives really work? I, wholly, do believe in the idea of learning from regrets, loss, grief, hurt but turning them into something else is shallow to me. They can become things you heal from. I won't ever look back at how my father died, and only see the positive? I can find some, in reflection - but the actual moment will *always* be marked in a quiet cry.

@thewindupbirdchronicles You must be a seasoned truth seeker? I’m sorry for your loss but you’re clearly made the best of it you can while remaining honest to yourself.

I’ve settled into it too. I can see how my life changed by losing my parents so young and I make the best of it. But I’ll never be able to see it as a positive.

Sometimes I feel like everything is kinda neutral, it’s our dependency on it that tips the scales and causes imbalance.
@AlchemyFox All I know is I want to be true. I want to be kind. I want to be compassionate. If at any moment I deny my own feelings, I deny the chance, I feel, of hearing another's. Empathy comes with a lot of hard lessons.

That humans would use their knowledge and experiences to develop wider and deeper wisdom that benefits all earthlings and the planet as a whole...
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@Neoerectus and clearly we’re not. Not collectively anyway.
