That’s not an accurate summary of what I have read. The Sunday Times report says the King will put “diversity, communities and volunteering” at the heart of his coronation, and goes on to say that it will “reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry”. When I celebrate, as I most certainly will, I will be thinking principally about the King himself and the institution of the monarchy,and secondarily about the fact that we do these State occasions rather well. I certanly won’t be thinking about refugees, the NHS, or any “group” with a particular sexual orientation!

@MartinII The reason why beer is so expensive in Norway is mainly due to heavy taxation. Regular beer is taxed at 22.4 NOK per liter, in addition to the other taxes such as VAT at 25 %. This means that if you pay 30 NOK for a 1/2 L can of beer, you first have to remove the 25 % VAT, that gives 22.5 NOK. Then we have to subtract the 11.2 (half of 22.4) NOK for the alcohol fee. This leaves you with a price of 11.3 NOK for the beer after all taxes have been removed.
So in other words, when you buy a beer for 30 NOK in Norway, 18.7 NOK (almost 2/3) goes directly to the government, while only 11.3 NOK goes towards the grocery store, and the beer producer.

Of course, those heavy taxes are only in our own best interest. The government know what's good for us.

@helenS Of course they do!

@MartinII A Nanny state is what we all need. 😐

The above caption is just a certain section of the Internet's belittling and vile thoughts...anything for clickbate, really.....just to focus on the chaos that is, sadly, happening..

😔

But, yes, if modern Britain that is stated is about diversity in all it's ways and forms....

I love the royal family, being a Brit myself, and think that Charles would make a fantastic Monarch.

Supporting the Royal Fam and appreciating the positives in this country? Yep...count me in.

😘

@ArishMell Does that mean he became King the moment Queen Elizabeth II died??

Yes. It works that way in the UK (and those Commonwealth nations who have the monarch of the UK as head of state) and Norway and I think most European countries now. It used to be different in the Holy Roman Empire; the monarch was elected but not by universal suffrage of course, just by a small group of high nobles and the pool of candidates was exceedingly small.
helenS · 36-40, F
@ninalanyon Thank you, ninalanyon!!! 🌷
nedkelly · 61-69, M
I like King CHARLES, and i hope he does well
Fairydust · F
No he’s a WEF member, believes all their BS, he was also best mates with Jimmy Saville 🙄
Scarfface · 46-50, M
@Fairydust You are probably right but I definitely don't believe in guilt by association.
Hopefully all the creeps will get found out.
Fairydust · F
@Scarfface

joesecret · 56-60, M
No football as been cancelled on Saturday so not happy.
redredred · M
Only Brits have a valid opinion here but really, the Dutch, the Belgians, The Japanese and others have royal families and they don’t make such a fuss about them. It’s really odd but it’s their money.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@redredred Good point.
gol979 · 41-45, M
No thanks. Not into partying with a bunch of parasitic, peadois, nazi (before ppl get their knickers in a twist please see the photo of Lovely Liz 2 throwing the nazi salute), agenda pushing weirdos
Scarfface · 46-50, M
Definitely, the royal family is great for Britain and it's looking like I'll get the day off work as a bank holiday. Free money and a day off, why not celebrate.

Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
Nah he's a spoiled crackpot tyrant who bullies and treats people like nothing. Plenty of information out there.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
The queen intervened on laws before they were presented to parlement and anything that could effect the Royal family was immediately changed
All of their wills have been sealed so the public know nothing
Very democratic but I forgot, nothing democratic about monarchs
And all paid for by the public
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Strictmichael75 Why should their wills be made public? Those are family matters; no business of yours, mine or the newspapers.

Also the monarch of the UK does not rule the country. Government and Parliament do that.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
@ArishMell I never said the monarchy rules but interfere in laws being made in the uk, their wills as far as being sealed shows they don’t want people to know the extent of their riches, normal peoples wills are not sealed!
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Strictmichael75 Why should we know their private riches - though they are probably not the richest Britons now. Why should we know what are in their wills? Are you going to publish yours on here? No, I don't suppose you are, and neither am I.
Thodsis · 51-55, M
We'll all be singing...

'Insert chosen deity' Save The Quing.
Nimbus · M
@MrBrownstone No one likes Dumbo Ears.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Nimbus Actually, I guess the majority of the population do, to some degree at least.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@MartinII I think the majority of people are probably neutral on the subject and if pressed might comment that they have more important things to think about.
Tres13 · 51-55, M
There is only one King & he has left the building
You must be really upset now that the pope has called for homosexuality to be legalized.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@LeopoldBloom Reported.
@MrBrownstone Congratulations. Except reporting anyone results in an immediate monthlong block, and I can still see you. Unless you reported me on one of your alt accounts.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@LeopoldBloom Incorrect.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
I'll watch as it is history, especially for most of us who have never seen a coronation before.

My wife however as an evowed republican (not meaning the USA party obviously) will not. She may well be in a protestor group.
