Sounds like my teenage son when he once said "But dad, please buy me those jeans... everybody is wearing them!"
He only said that once. I took him to school the very next morning. He usually rode the bus but on this day we started off early enough to be at the school when the buses began to offload the kids. I made him count the number of kids wearing the style we begged for while I tried to get an estiamted count of the total number of kids.
A half hour later we did the math. It was less than 30% wearing what "everybody' was wearing. He never asked that question or begged me for something again.
