While I find his comment disgusting and contemptible, if you truly believe in the right to freedom of speech, he has a right to voice his opinion.
The hate speech laws that have been passed in Britain and Canada, are more odious, contemptible and dangerous than Jack Black’s comments.
Personally, I think the proper response would be….in the absence of a public apology….never watching another Jack Black movie, never attending one of his concert, or acknowledging his existence.
Shrug

@blackarcher256 Does free speech mean I have to listen? I don’t think so.

@Mamapolo2016Where in my comment did I say…or imply…that you had to listen?
Mamapolo2016 · F
@blackarcher256 That was not aimed at your post. Just in general. Apologies.

Novak Djokovic was deported because he broke the law and attempted to deceive public officials. However distasteful the "joke" made by this pair, it is unlikely to be unlawful. There is no parallel between the two incidents and no logic to the senator's argument.

Freedom of Speech is something we practice here in Australia.

@Thevy29 Freedom of speech is a slippery slope these days; especially when only one side of the political spectrum is allowed to define what constitutes "hate speech" & limit it

@Thevy29 Nothing like accurate reporting. The Police angrily denied it ever happened and the story was only picked up by the right-wing corners of the Australian media.

I don’t understand anything about these odious people having any careers at all. I guess we’re aiming to make odious the norm.

nah, don't deport them, we don't want them back...
can't you just drop them off in the middle of the bush somewhere? 🤔

I don't know anything about Ralph Babet but I would bet big that he's super conservative, screams about freedoms and rights, but doesn't walk the walk.
Am I close?

"Soon-to-be"? They must be living in their own little world (not unlike Canada's senate)

So much for the free speech right

I don't know how y'all tolerate such a Nanny state. It's honestly crazy how controlling the state is down there.

@AbbeyRhode He used to be funny but his political jokes are cringe- like when he said recently about being there to save democracy 😖
