Why the Canada-US Trade negotiations suddenly imploded at the last minute...

I know how Americans are typically kept in the dark about most things that happen in the USA, unlike the rest of the world who's citizens are not restricted from knowing what happens day to day in the USA and around the world.

Watch ANY American TV news channel and American government pundits will be heard and seen telling Americans, how Canada walked out of the deal because Canada wanted way too much despite America's generosity....

What happened in the last 15 minutes of the eleventh hour before the official Trump-imposed deadline for cutting a Trade Deal with Canada, was that Howard Lutnik walked into the room and changed the wording of the already-agreed upon Canada/US Trade deal so that after 10 years had passed, Canada would no longer be allowed to build American cars in Canada and ALL American auto production would return to the USA where American cars and trucks would be built in the USA ONLY. This underhanded tactic would effectively END the auto industry completely in Canada.

Lutnik also threatened Canada with Trump's 51st State ambitions if Canada didn't sign the deal... and it all happened within the last 15 minutes of the meeting.

Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney was immediately contacted on the phone and was informed of what Lutnik was peddling from Trump, at which point Carney told the Canadian negotiating team that all bets are off and to return to Canada immediately.

It was the USA, not Canada, who completely upended the Trade negotiations with Canada after failing to bargain in good faith with Canada only moments before the deal was to be signed, sealed and delivered.

Congratulations America, you fukked that one up too. Nobody should be surprised because that kind of negotiating behavior is the American way.

You were obviously there, so what's it about then?

You left out one important item.... It also limited Canada's trade involvement with other countries.... In what dimension does a country give up it's sovereign powers?
Convivial · 26-30, F
@swirlie let's just forget I posted....

I've got a better idea... why don't you just write your own post on the matter instead of attempting to contradict and undermine my post? Did that cross your mind, or do you not actually know enough of the facts to make a post of your own?
