America is the only country to ever use a nuclear weapon against an enemy but no other country is allowed to even possess such a weapon? Something is wrong with that assessment.

@exchrist
No, that is not true. France has a nuclear weapon, so does England. Canada was instrumental in inventing the nuclear power and in fact was the first country in the world to ever have a nuclear power generating facility providing electricity to homes. That said, Canada is now making a nuclear defense weapon since the USA is no longer considered a trusted ally of Canada's. This came about with Trump's threats to annex Canada and re-start the War of 1812 all over again. The USA is now surrounded with former allies who now possess or are building nuclear weapons to protect themselves against the likes of the US government.

@swirlie okay but has any other country ever detonated a nuclear weapon? Or used it as a weapon? Nuclear power is not nuclear bomb steam generation is not explosion on an enemy.

@swirlie to have (possess) is not use (detonate or attack an enemy.)

No country other than the USA has detonated a nuclear weapon while using it as a weapon.

You have taken my post out of context when I said that Canada is building a nuclear self-defense weapon, no different than France and England have done.

We are not talking about nuclear power versus nuclear weapons here.

The question was asked by the OP if no other country was allowed to have a nuclear weapon. The answer to his question is NO, any country can have a nuclear weapon at it's disposal because the USA does not dictate to the world who can have a nuclear weapon and who cannot. This is because the USA is not the Leader of the world and therefore does not get to decide for other countries.

You asked if no other country was allowed to have a nuclear weapon?

The answer is NO. Any country can have a nuclear self-defense weapon if it desires.

The only time it would get used is in self-defense, assuming all other options at peace had failed and a nuclear attack from another country was imminent.

To have it but not ever be allowed to use it is an irrelevant statement you have made.

@swirlie yes I’d said possess my mistake I’d intended to inquire about using. But America objects to other countries even having possession of such technology despite America being the least trustworthy to be in possession of. So any new countries seeking to possess such weapons if only to be able to get a “seat at the international table”. Yet America has the unquestioned access to the greatest number of such weapons and is the only entity to ever use such technology as a weapon. Doesn’t make a lot of sense
